Again I watched Earth Focus "The Fate of the Oceans" It is astonishing to observe how all the commentaries made about how humans are destroying the oceans and the entire planet and not a word about the sustainable alternative VEGETARIANISM! Humans are devouring all life on earth and dying from it. We in essence are a parasitic organism, destroying all life supporting systems including ourselves.
Until we see ourselves as this, until we point out to others what we are doing and the solutions to it such as vegetarian lifestyles, nothing will change.
Devouring other feeling, sentient beings is by far the single most destructive act individuals do to the earth. It is the single most cruel and inhumane manner of living and it is the single biggest source of human diseases, including the biggest killers like heart disease, stroke, cancers, etc.
HOW CAN ALL OF THESE THINGS CONTINUE TO BE IGNORED BY EVEN MOST "ENVIRONMENTALIST"
IF YOU EAT ANIMALS AND ANIMAL DERIVED PRODUCTS, YOU ARE NOT AN ENVIRONMENTALIST, YOU ARE A PLUNDERER AND DESTROYER OF LIFE.
Again I watch Earth Focus and "The Fate of the Oceans". It is astonishing to me to observe how all the commentaries made about how humans are destroying the oceans and not a word about alternatives to that such as NOT EATING SEA LIFE!
With the threat of Global Warming staring at us at the face and perhaps one of the most important issues facing the very survival of all life on earth, it amazes me how little importance is given to one of the major causes which is NOT CO2 from vehicles, but methane and nitruos gases from animals raised for food. Vegetarianism is key to reduce not just global warming, but also disesase caused by it, as well as all the environmental destruction that it's associated with it such as deforestation, loss of habitats, desertification, soil erotion, water pollution, killing of wildlife, and the squandering of resources. Please make vegetarianism a part of your regular programing. This unnecesary suffering of billions of animals to satisfy humans most trivial of things, taste is absolutely wrong. Eating animals is by far worse for the environment than driving the equivalent of 2 gas guzzling SUV's per person and it is unsustainable.
My movie uncovers Revelations as a nature environmental doomsday, experienced and predicted by a previously lived civilization. It is like Zeitgeist but more old School. Help me spread it around, grab the code and post it. The video only hints to the knowledge within the book www.H2onE2.com.
In the news the other day I saw where there were plans in the making. Of a super
highway. From Mexico on up through Canada. I also saw on the Discovery channel
how they are using fifteen layers of asphalt per lane in the road building industry.
Also it was pointed out that asphalt is waste petroleum or sludge. The same thing
just spilled in the San Francisco Bay area. Think about it. Asphalt is the same
thing covering Prince William Sound. Equador, Iraq. and many other places. How
much of our EARTH can we cover with this Stuff?
I'd like to second citizen477's idea. Earth Focus is an excellent show, but it definitely needs an update! Every time I tune in to watch it, it still the same one with Lester Brown (great guy, though!) and the plastic cone invention to distill water (great invention, though!).
Although it has been way too long since I last visited Europe, I love their trains, trams, and bike/pedestrian right-of-ways (and their love of wind turbines, solar thermal/photovoltaic, energy efficiency, long vacations, delicious coffee etc. etc. In fact, I wish I lived there instead of Alabama, despite our beautiful countryside.)!
I also loved that segment from Australia's Dateline program on the city in Brazil and its former mayor (sorry, can't remember either his name or the city's) who years ago implemented a train system. According to the program, the mass transit train is so popular that it makes a profit for the city, as well as getting people out of their automo-"biles." (Also, the host and reporters of Dateline are wonderful -- just had to mention that! I love their reports, on among other things, East Timor. I wish they ruled Australia! hahaha!).
Lastly, an article a few years ago in the Dutch magazine, ODE, had a short interview by a former mayor in a Columbian city who was very popular for, among other things, converting one side (two lanes) of a four lane thoroughfare in his city into a pedestrian/bicycle area (car-free). Interestingly, he was a free-market enthusiast, yet apparently very progressive (not a fake free-marketer like most).
Anyway, it would be nice if the state of Alabama (where I live) had decent bike paths connecting the entire state (" . . . you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one" -- J. Lennon). As an aside, it was interesting to read in William F. Buckley's obituary that when he ran for mayor of New York ages ago, that one of his proposals was an elevated bike way! (I always liked him, despite his somewhat crypto-fascist nature. Of course, Gore Vidal was far more "with it" on so many issues -- but I love(d) both of them immensely for their sense of humor, erudition, and general delightful demeanor).
Anyway, I love to talk too much. I'm sure most are familiar with this stuff I mention. But it is fun every now and then to be so loquacious.
